Stags Lose out in High Scoring Match

The seconds headed to Anstruther to face Waid. The game was played on the 4G surface and as the scoreline suggests this was a fast and furious game with tacking optional. Waid were quickly into a 12 point lead before the Stags were able to respond. They won a lineout and Potgeiter had a run before passing to Kerry to score under the sticks. Haggart added the simple conversion. The home side restored their advantage before Grangemouth collected their second score. McDonald picked up from a scrum 30 metres out and although the ball went loose it was Balfour who scooped up the ball to scamper in for the try. Haggart was again on target with the extras. The closing 10 minutes of the half saw the home side run in 3 further scores as the Stags were guilty of falling off tackles.

As I the first half Waid scored 2 early trys before Grangemouth added their third. A spell of pressure on the home line was rewarded as Potgeiter forced his way over from close range. Another Waid try followed before the hard working Potgeiter crashed over for his second score. Waid scored again and then Kerry added his second after a spell of pressure. Unfortunately the Stags conceded 3 further scores and lost Rafferty after the young winger received a blow to the neck. Ft Waid 79. Stags 33.
Although well beaten the Stags fought hard throughout to collect a try scoring bonus point. They need to sharpen up on their tackling and general game awareness. This week the 2s are back at home as they face Perthshire 2s with KO 2pm.
