Grangemouth Ladies made it 3 victories from 3 for the senior sides as they kicked off their season
with a last gasp victory against Kirkcaldy. In a very entertaining game the lead changed hands several
times before the dramatic finale. With 5 minutes to play and Kirkcaldy leading 25-24 play was halted
when home player Nicole Barlow suffered a neck injury. After a delay while an ambulance was
phoned the game was restarted on the adjacent pitch. Kirkcaldy remained on the attack and with 1
minute to play were awarded a penalty. Despite having missed all their previous kicks they chose to
kick for goal to run down the clock. The kick was missed and Ferguson-Ward collected the ball and
set off on a lung bursting run to race 90 metres and score in the corner to snatch a dramatic victory.
Try scorers for the ladies were Elizabeth Severs, Susan Ferguson-Ward(2), Nicole Barlow and Jen
McCusker with skipper Heather Innes adding the crucial 2 conversions. Player of the match was
Karris Anderson. This Sunday the ladies travel to take on Dundee with KO 2pm. New members are
welcome to come along to training on Wednesday from 7-9pm.
