Grangemouth Stags 95 Panmure 3

The Stags were at home for the last league game of the season with Panmure the visitors to Glensburgh. Grangemouth made 4 changes from their last match with starts for Weir, Carrie, McInally and Herron. From the kick off Grangemouth were on the attack and the opening score came after just 2 minutes. Denny set up play on the visitors 22 and Skipper slid a kick into the in goal area for Innes to follow up for the score. McInally slotted the conversion/ Five minutes later the Stags collected try number 2 which was almost identical to the first. Again Skipper kicked into the in goal area and again Innes was first to react and claim his second try. McInally added the extra 2 points. On 10 minutes the visitors had a rare attack and were successful with a penalty to reduce the lead. However the Stags were soon back on the attack and a speculative cross kick was collected by Herron and the young winger powered over from 20 metres for an unconverted score. On 20 minutes Grangemouth collected the bonus point try. Panmure turned the ball over inside the home half and Jardine lead the counter attack with a kick and chase up to the Panmure line. The visitors tried to clear their line but the giant frame of McNab charged the kick down and collected the loose ball for the score. McInally was back on target with the conversion. The one way traffic continued and Jardine was next on the score sheet. The forwards took a scrum against the head with Aspinall driving up to the Panmure 22. The ball was moved wide and Jardine picked the ball up off his toes before stepping round his man to score in the corner. Straight from the kick off the forwards and backs combined to take play deep into the visitors half where Herron ran round the cover to score under the posts to leave McInally a simple conversion. Five minutes later Herron completed his hat trick. The backs worked a switch move to create the space for the winger to come off his wing and score under the posts. McInally again added the extras. With 5 minutes left in the half Grangemouth added three more scores. First from a scrum take against the head Denny made the break before feeding back inside for Skipper to score under the posts. From the kick off McInally made the break before Kerry rumbled on into the Panmure 22. The ball was recycled with McInally collecting the final pass to score. Just on half time Jardine was given the space to step round his man and score in the corner. Half time Stags 62 Panmure 3

There was no let up at the start of the second half. Once again Craig took a scrum against the head and an Aspinall pick up and feed saw Wieczerek sneak over in the corner. Soon after a series of tap penalties resulted in Denny cutting a majestic line to score under the posts. The centre turned provider next as he made the break before passing to Herron who slipped the ball back inside for Ward to use his weight to break the tackle for the score. As the game entered the final quarter good handling in the backs gave Herron the space to power round his man for his fourth try. A few minutes later McInally sliced through the remnants of the Panmure defence to score his second try. At this point with still 15 minutes to go both coaches and the referee decided that enough was enough and ended the game. FT Stags 95 Panmure 3

This was as one sided a game as you are ever likely to see. The Stags were totally dominant in all phases of the game with the forwards controlling the set pieces to give the backs an easy ride to attack at every opportunity. There are no more games for the 1st XV this season although the 2nds have a game on 5 April away to Waid.
