Grangemouth 82 - Kinross 0

The Stags were back in league action last Saturday when Kinross made the trip to Glensburgh. The sides had already met in the league and the bowl with Grangemouth enjoying comfortable wins in both fixtures. Straight from the kick off Grangemouth were on the attack and opened the score after just 2 minutes. From a scrum on the Kinross 22 the forwards made a couple of drives and when the play was switched to the blind side Kyle Risk squeezed in at the corner. The young winger doubled his, and the teams account, a few minutes later when he was at the end of a flowing move to score in the same corner. Try number three came after only 10 minutes. The forwards worked a back row move from a scrum inside the visitors 22 and Parsons was given enough space to score. The one way traffic continued and the bonus point try was scored after only 15 minutes. Jamieson retrieved a clearing kick and linked with Sangster and Allan to take play close to the Kinross line. The visitors were penalised at the ruck and from the tap penalty Sangster strolled over in the corner. Grangemouth continued to dominate and Risk added his third try after 20 minuts. The pack won a scrum against the head and Mncube made the break before passing to Risk who beat the cover to run under the posts. This time McInally was able to add the conversion. From the kick off the ball failed to go the 10 metres and from the resulting scrum Neil picked up and linked with McPherson and Gowdy to allow Allan to score in the corner. Risk then added his fourth try when good hands by the backs created the overlap to allow the left winger to score in the corner. With half time approaching Grangemouth continued to press and when Parsons was held just short of the line McFarlane was on hand to dive over from short range. Half time 42 – 0

Grangemouth made a number of changes at the break but started the second period as they finished the first. Sangster kicked to the corner from a penalty and from the lineout the forwards drove over with McFarlane claiming the score. Sangster added the conversion. Kinross held their own for the next 15 minutes as some of the home sides play became a little loose. On the hour mark the crowd witnessed a long range try from Jamieson. The big prop had scored a try from 35 metres against the visitors earlier in the season and on this occasion scored from further out. He collected a pass just inside the Kinross half, burst through the initial tackles before selling a dummy to the full back to score under the posts. Once again Sangster was on target with the conversion. Soon after Jamieson turned provider as his pass allowed Craig to add his name to the score sheet. With 10 minutes to go Stangoe made a break but was tackled 5 metres from the line. His pass failed to go to hand but David Turnbull was able to kick and chase for his 1st try for the club. Sangster was successful with the difficult kick. Kinroos kept going and were unlucky not to score with a couple of kicks at goal and a series of drives close to the line. However the Stags defence held firm and McFarlane relieved the pressure with a kick down field. From the resultant scrum the backs worked a move and Parsons scored under the posts with Sangster again converting. There was just time for an individual effort from Allan. He received the kick off deep in his own half and with a combination of pace and power brushed past 4 tacklers before rounding the full back to score under the posts. Sangster added the conversion. Final score 82 – 0.

This was an excellent win for the Stags against a side who despite being outgunned and outclassed tried hard throughout and were unlucky not to score. Risk took his tries well and the whole squad played there part in the win. Next week the Stags are again at home in the league against Fife Southern with a 2pm KO.
