The seconds faced Bo’ness at Glensburgh last Saturday in a local derby. On a perfect day for rugby Grangemouth had the advantage of the wind in the first half and took the lead with Allan opening up the defence to run in from halfway. Bo’ness hit back and scored after they collected a wayward clearance kick and good handling by their backs resulted in a converted score. The home side were soon back in the lead as they stole a lineout and after some good support play Brough was able to run in for a converted score. He added his 2nd try soon after. A drive by Spence resulted in a penalty and a quickly taken tap saw the veteran forward crash over. Not to be outdone Bo’ness replied after some pressure and a kick through and kind bounce saw the visitors grab their second score. The Stags added 2 further scores before the break. First Clyne made a break to the 22 before offloading to Allan for the bonus point score. From the kick off good continuity took play back to the visitors 22 where Brough and Allan combined to pass to young Chisholm for the score. HT Stags 29 Bo’ness 12.
The home side started the second period strongly. First Allan completed his hat trick and then he supplied the pass to his fellow centre Clyne who scored after an outrageous dummy. Further scores followed with Balmer and Samuel Quinn extending the lead. Bo’ness stuck in and we’re rewarded with 2 trys to reduce the lead to 51-24. Allan and Macintosh added further scores for the home side before Bo’ness completed the scoring in the closing minutes. FT Stags 63 Bo’ness 31.
This week the seconds travel to face Strathmore seconds.
