After two away games the Stags were at home last Saturday as they welcomed Perthshire to Glensburgh. Grangemouth made 5 changes from the previous week with Sam Quinn and Wieczorek at half back, Ferguson in the front row, McNiff at lock and there was a club debut for James Braddock in the back row. Perthshire kicked off and were immediately under pressure as the Stags attacked. Ferguson carried into the 22 and when the ball was moved wide Andrew Venter rounded the final defender for the opening score. Coyle added the extras. A few minutes later Coyle was tackled in the visitors 22. The ball was recycled and Johnny Venter stepped inside his man to run in under the sticks. Coyle slotted the conversion. Quinn was forced from the field with an ankle injury and soon after a Perthshire player sustained a neck injury after a scrum.

The game was delayed by 25 minutes and then moved to the second park after excellent work by the groundstaff to quickly line the pitch. Following the resumption in play a goal line dropout was collected by Andrew Venter and he skipped round the cover for an unconverted score. From the kick off Geldenhuys received the ball and carried upfield. The ball was moved wide and replacement McCormack raced in at the corner for the bonus point score. Coyle landed an excellent kick from near the touchline. With halftime approaching the Stags added 2 further scores. Firstly after a break by Strathie the second row passed to Geldenhuys for an easy run in. Then from the kick off Clark and Ferguson carried well and the ball was recycled for Kerr to beat the defender and score. HT Stags 38 Perthshire 0.

The second period continued in similar fashion. On 45 minutes a flat pass after a lineout saw Geldenhuys slice through for a try. A few minutes later from a scrum close to the line Sikora picked up and fed McCormack for the score. Then Venter, Geldenhuys and Wieczorek took play to the visitors line and the ball was popped to Geldenhuys for the try. The closing quarter saw Grangemouth add 3 further scores. Firstly Ferguson collected a turnover to run in from 25 metres. Then Sikora, Martin and Venter combined before the ball reached McCormack for the try. Then with the final play Martin continued his try scoring by forcing his way over from close range. FT Stags 70 Perthshire 0.

As the scoreline suggests this was a very comfortable victory for the Stags. Perthshire could not match the power of the home pack and the overall intensity of the play. McCormack was man of the match with a special mention to groundsman Gary Naismith for his efforts at pitch lining in record time. This week the firsts make the short trip to Tillicoultry to face Hillfoots with KO 3pm.
