The Stags 1st round National Shield tie against Blairgowrie was cancelled after the Perthshire side were unable to field a team and withdrew from the competition. Grangemouth now progress to the second round. Instead the Stags were able to pick up a friendly fixture against a Heriots side sitting top of their division. The local side selected a mix of 1st and 2nd team players for the game. In an entertaining match played in difficult conditions it was the capital side who ran out deserved winners. The Stags competed well throughout with trys from Stanley, Polland, Hamilton and Ferguson with Coyle adding a single conversion. Forsyth was named man of the match but there were a number of strong performances especially from the Grangemouth youngsters. Next Saturday there is no fixture for the 1s while the 2s resume their league fixtures with a home game against Waid. KO at Glensburgh is 3pm.
